Midway Deli is a true Norman classic. Tucked into a quiet neighborhood, this laid-back, old-school deli is famous for its legendary made-to-order sandwiches, cozy atmosphere, and walls covered in signatures from visitors over the years. It’s the kind of place that feels effortlessly local and full of character. And if you’re lucky, you might even spot Barry Switzer stopping by... he’s a notorious regular.
If you’re looking for the perfect way to kick off the day, we highly recommend Neighborhood JAM. Located in downtown Norman, it’s a lively, go-to brunch spot known for its fun atmosphere and seriously good breakfast. From creative twists on classic dishes to incredible coffee and cocktails, it’s the kind of place where everyone can find something they’ll love. Just a heads up, it’s popular for a reason, so there’s often a bit of a wait, but we promise it’s worth it. We recommend joining the waitlist early.
If you’re staying an extra day, Juliette’s Oyster Bar & Steakhouse is one of our favorite spots for a nice dinner out. Located in downtown Norman, it’s the perfect mix of upscale and inviting, with amazing seafood, steaks, and a great atmosphere for lingering a little longer. Tyler highly recommends trying their Old Fashioned, and Mackenzie loves the lychee martini, both are must-orders in our opinion. It’s the perfect way to wrap up the weekend with a great meal and a relaxed night out together.
If you’re looking for something to do while you’re in Norman, we highly recommend visiting the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art. Located on the University of Oklahoma campus, it’s one of the most impressive (and surprisingly accessible) art museums in the region, with a collection of over 20,000 works ranging from French Impressionism to contemporary and Native American art. Mackenzie spent quite a bit of time here during her undergrad, studying for her minor in Art History!
Whether you’re an art lover or just looking for a relaxed way to spend an afternoon, it’s an easy, beautiful stop to add to your weekend plans, and a perfect way to experience a little bit of Norman’s culture while you’re in town.
